The longer I live, the more people I meet, the more homes I am welcomed into, the more personal blogs I read, the more research I do on social justice issues, the more books I crack open - it strikes me how much each life can differ. The conversations we have, the chores we complete, the hobbies and interests we spend our time engaging in, the music we play in the background, the food we cook and eat, the things hanging on our walls, the issues we're passionate about, the lives we lead... This world is full of so much variety - from house to house, from town to town, from country to country.

The goal of this blog is to give people a glimpse into our specific life and how we live it. If I open anyone up to anything, inspire anyone, or disprove any myths or stereotypes about "people like me", well - that's just gravy on the cake... or something.

My smart and hilarious offspring! He can tell you all about building intricate lego contraptions, Doctor Who, and building his own levels in physics-oriented games. He is also obsessed with cats and all things feline-related. This kid loves Skrillex, Kids & Explosions, The Strokes, GirlTalk, and Kimbra. He is also an avid appreciator of snackage. Favorites include (but are not limited to): cottage cheese, turkey pepperoni, black grapes, cooked broccoli and carrots, mandarin oranges, string cheese, fishy crackers, apples, and yogurt raisins.
