How had I never noticed this before?
Silas has discovered Calvin & Hobbes. Seth has two collections of the comic that are fun and easy for Silas to read on his own... He's been flipping through them for about a week now and it suddenly hit me; he IS Calvin.
And his tiger, Joseph... totally Hobbes, man.
They dance together and ride his skateboard together and dig in the backyard together.
Silas has this story he likes to tell about when the aliens came to see him. He swears it's true and not a story.... he's going through a "I hate school" phase... he used to love the neighbor girl, until she moved. He is SO Calvin.
Except with more dexterous eyebrows. And marker on his fingers... all the time.
He has several stuffed cats. When I tell you he loves cats, this is the hugest understatement anyone has ever made... in the history of the universe. He LOVES cats. But Joseph was the first.
It's pretty uncanny.

my son is almost 9 and has had the same exact tiger since he was 2 months old! i just had to put him in the wash because he dropped him in the toilet this morning while going to the bathroom.
He found Joseph at goodwill a couple years back. The boy has about 10 stuffed cats altogether... and this isn't counting the ceramic cat figurines I've been coerced into buying. Heh. I hope this one hadn't been dropped into the toilet before we got ahold of him. ;)
I am a total creeper of you blog, but when I have a child I hope he/she is like Silas. :) Cute boy you have! with a great personality!
