The longer I live, the more people I meet, the more homes I am welcomed into, the more I travel, the more blogs I read, the more books I crack open - it strikes me how much each life can differ and by how much. The conversations we have, the chores we complete, the hobbies and interests we spend our time engaging in, the music we play in the background, the food we cook and eat, the things hanging on our walls, the issues we're passionate about, the lives we lead... This world is full of so much variety, even from house to house, from street to street, from town to town, from country to country.

The goal of this blog is to give people a glimpse into our specific life and how we live it - a free and safe space to express who I am without fear of judgment or persecution.

in a perfect world - my to do list

#1 - learn to relax.
#2 - get plastic out of our lives as much as possible.
#3 - teach Silas how to ride without training wheels.
#4 - schedule a massage every quarter, stay on a schedule with it.
#5 - buy a Wii fit. DONE thanks mama.
#6 - make my own tops and dresses.
#7 - plan a trip to europe.
#8 - start taking a daily multi-vitamin. DONE
#9 - find the perfect vintage desk.
#10 - buy a home. DONE
#11 - reduce the disposable paper products we use.
#12 - average a sale a week on etsy. - DONE
#13 - learn to can fruits & veggies. also learn to pickle! and dry my own herbs and seasonings!
#14 - get that fancy extended cable tv shut off. DONE
#15 - make my own bread, dammit.
#16 - quit my day job. DONE
#17 - cover a majestic tree in thrifted doilies.
#18 - clean out every closet in the apartment.
#19 - budget our groceries down to $4k a year.
#20 - organize and consolidate my wardrobe.
#21 - grow and harvest actual edible FOOD.
#22 - teach myself how to knit.
#23 - try sushi one more time, my 15 year old palate was clueless.
#24 - make my own laundry detergent - DONE

I am passionate about Fat Acceptance.

Every person is different. This world is full of diverse shapes and colors and sizes and ideas. To think that you can diagnose whether someone is healthy just by looking at them is beyond ludicrous. It's time we stopped judging the people around us based soley on looks and ill-informed preconceived notions. It's time we stopped judging eachother AT ALL. It's time that people stopped making my body their business. It's probably pretty obvious, but I feel I should state it here and now that negative body-talk and weight-loss talk are not anything I want to see in this space. This is a body-positive, body-friendly zone.
